Using Our Senses

How do blind actors know where to go on stage? How does a deaf-blind actor know when it’s their turn to enter the stage? And how do they communicate with each other during the performance and rehearsal process?

Mordy Weis (a deaf-blind actor) and Mohammad Shaqqur (a blind actor), who perform together at the Na Laga’at Theater, reveal in a unique acting workshop how sensory impairment does not constitute an obstacle in the theatrical creation process. They demonstrate how they cultivate the reciprocity that is woven between the impairment and the creation, and how they draw empowerment and uniqueness from it.

In addition, they will reveal some of the secrets of the theater and communication at the Na Laga’at Center, the only one of its kind in the world
