Mordy Weis, born in the United States and immigrated to Israel in 2008, is deaf-blind (in one body) due to Usher Syndrome, a genetic syndrome causing congenital deafness and progressive blindness. Despite this, Mordy is an optimistic and positive individual who feels at home on stage. He believes it’s important for audiences to see him as he is, raising awareness of Usher Syndrome and demonstrating that anything is possible despite the difficulties. Mordy starred in the play “Edgar” for five years and currently participates in “It Can Be a Man Standing in the Snow.” In addition to acting, he teaches a workshop called “Playing with the Senses.” When not involved in these activities, Mordy enjoys playing baseball, reading, writing, traveling, and collecting experiences.
