Tayyeb Badwe

Actor, Instructor, Waiter at Kapish

Tayyeb was born deaf in Kafr Qasem, a city in central Israel. His twin brother and other relatives are also deaf, so the family communicates primarily through sign language. As a child, one of the counselors at the HID (Hearing Impaired and Deaf) club in Kafr Qasem encouraged him to participate in plays, which sparked his love for theater.

In addition to his role in the play “It Could Be a Man Standing in Snow,” Tayyeb also stars in the play “Children of a Lesser God” by Mark Medoff at the Na Laga’at Theater. This year, he began studying acting in an accessible program for deaf people at the Na Laga’at Center for the Performing Arts.

In the play “It Could Be a Man Standing in Snow,” Tayyeb focuses on his identity as an Arab-Muslim-deaf person. He is passionate about learning different sign languages and his intention is to make a change in the education system for deaf Arabs. He is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in special education at Beit Berl College, working as a waiter at “Cafe Kapish” and teaching sign language.
