Yaroslav Bernatsky

Actor, Instructor, Waiter at Kapish

Yaroslav, deaf from birth, grew up in Kaliningrad, Russia. His grandparents are also deaf, so the whole family communicates in sign language. A few years ago he immigrated to Israel and now lives in Tel Aviv.

Yaroslav feels like he was born ready for the stage. He comes from a family of musicians and players, and has been dancing since he was a little boy. In Russia he participated in various professional productions, both acting and dancing. In his opinion, deaf people can dance because they feel the vibrations and the rhythm inside. In the show, Yaroslav dances in high heels. This is difficult and challenging for him, but he feels that it is part of who he is – a man who is a little feminine.

In addition to participating in the play “This Could Be a Person Standing in Snow,” Yaroslav works as a waiter at Cafe Kapish, a bartender at BlackOut Restaurant and an instructor for sign language workshops. He loves to paint, take pictures and edit videos, buy vintage clothes, fly and travel the world.
