Illya was born on March 27, 1969 and immigrated from Ukraine in 2000.He started working at the Na Laga’at Center in October 2007. Ilya feels that the workplace treats everyone equally and with respect. He contrasts this with his experiences in other places, where he felt a lack of equality and respect due to his hearing loss. Additionally, at Na Laga’at, there exists a multitude of languages, along with a diverse community encompassing Jews, Arabs, and Christians, as well as individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, hearing, visually impaired, and blind. Everyone works together, fostering a sense of equality where everyone is seen at eye level.
