Shira Selinger

Waiter at Kapish

Shira was born on August 29, 2000. She has been working at Na Laga’at for about two years. Shira is surrounded by hearing people in her daily life, so coming to the Na Laga’at Center is a breath of fresh air for her. It is a place where she can meet other deaf people and not have to strain to understand and listen. Shira has been deaf since birth. She received a cochlear implant at a young age. She grew up in hearing environments, but also attended the Micha Center and Shema throughout the years. There, she cultivated her deaf identity and learned sign language. Shira did two years of national service at Shema. She is currently a student at Ariel University, studying communication disorders. She works at the Na Laga’at Center while she is in school.
