For the first time in 7 years, the Nalaga’at Theater is presenting a new group of deaf and blind actors. The actors have already started training and rehearsing with Director Offer Amram towards a new theater performance.
The comprehensive work process and future performances involve high costs – as the actors and sign-language interpreters receive full salaries (in contrary to other organizations where people with disabilities receive an adapted salary, Nalaga’at employs equally and regardless of disabilities, with salaries higher than the minimum wage). In addition, the rehearsals process requires very high expenses that are unique to the Nalaga’at Theater: adapted transportation to the deaf-blind actors, personal tactile-sign-language interpreter for each actor, social worker and other accessibility features.
